About Eye Exams
Regular eye exams are important for several reasons:
1. Early Detection of Eye Problems: Many eye diseases and conditions, such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration, have no noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Regular eye exams can detect these conditions before they cause significant damage to your eyes and vision.
2. To Update Glasses or Contact Lens Prescription: Vision can change over time, and staying up to date with a new glasses or contact lens prescription can help ensure you have as clear and comfortable vision as possible.
3. To Identify Other Health Issues: An eye exam can reveal other health issues beyond the eyes, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and thyroid problems.
4. To Protect Children’s Development and Learning: It is important for children to also have regular eye exams which can detect vision problems. Blurry vision or other visual problems can cause difficulties for children in many ways at school, at home, and in their daily activities.
The frequency and type of eye exams depends on many factors including age, diagnosis, overall health, and other risk factors. While a routine vision exam is typically performed once a year, those in need of medical eye exams may need more frequent exams.
At Big Rock Eye Care, we are here for the eye exam needs for you and your family. We look forward to seeing you at your next exam!
